- Don’t Let them Get to You!
Bed bugs are an excellent hitchhiker. They move from one place to another by either getting on your clothes or other items such as your furniture or suitcase. Avoid buying cheap furniture or clothes from a sidewalk, no matter how much tempting it might be. Also, avoid shabby hotel rooms to stay in. - Check your bed linen
Always check your mattresses and bed sheets for signs of bed bugs. These signs may be bloodstains, shells etc. If you find such signs, call pest control at the earliest and get rid of them. - Don’t forget the covers
Use covers for your bed sheets and box springs. It will make harder for bed bugs to get to you while sleeping. Also if possible replace your mattress and box spring every 2 or 3 years. These will make sure that you don’t have a mattress which is for bed bugs. - Do Your Laundry!
Wash your bed sheets, blankets, and bedspread on regular interval. Also, make sure to dry them properly – it ensures bed bugs don’t get to stick to them. - Is your home clean?
Clean your home once every few months and de-clutter everything. They like dirty and dark places. Cleaning your home will lessen the chance of their infestation. - Just Keep them Out!
Use door sweeps and door jams in your home. They do wonder not only in case of bed bugs but also other pests. You can also use bed bug repellant. It’s easy to find them in Walmart or your local stores. - Vacuum your carpets now and then.
Most of us are too lazy to do that. However, bed bugs find your carpet a pretty cosy place. It’s one of the first things that bed bugs look at hiding in, apart from your bed.
